Hello all,
My mom ended up in the hospital Monday morning. She got there in the early am by rescue squad. She was as close to having a heart attack as you can be without having one. To make a long story short her main aorta artery is completely clogged. They want to do open heart surgery on Friday. There are so many questions that we don't have answers to. Hopefully they will be answered on Thursday. The heart surgeon is the one who did Richard's surgery and he is one of the best from Milwaukee.
Love to all. Ktmae

water logged...
As Dad mentioned, our basement flooded Thurs. night. We actually had a little over 5 inches. We were guessing 3 or 4 earlier, but the water went to the top of our base trim, which I just measured at 5 inches. I don't know how he did it, but Dave morphed into Hercules and managed to save MOST of our belongings, including all our electronics and our tv stand and bookcase, which are the two pieces of furniture we would miss most. Our furnace and washer are fine. Our dryer is toast. Our water heater wasn't working, and we thought we'd be without hot water until the repair man comes on Thurs., but our neighbor has a plumber friend that came over today and fixed it. No more showers at Grandma's. :) Our bar will have to be completely replaced as well as at least 2 feet of drywall and the carpet, of course. The adjuster will be here Weds. AM. Good thing we increased our flood insurance 2 weeks ago. Our friend Ryan is our hero. He rushed over Thurs. night to help Dave (I was at work), helping us until 2AM, and was here helping all day Fri. and Sat.
Not much else to say...
I am a standby juror for Fri. I have to call on Thurs. to see if I'm needed. Not looking forward to driving to 26th and California. I've never been called before, so I guess I'm due.
Time to go mop the floor...again.
Dave was just stung by a bee! Hasn't he been through enough this weekend??? Time to go tend to the wounded.
Lots of Love,
Miss

Visiting
Hello,
Yesterday, Missy and I took a trip to WI to see my mom. Unfortunately, she slept most of the time we were there. My brother stopped by so we had a nice visit with him. We did get her house cleaned and Missy did laundry and changed the sheets on her bed. She was up for short periods of time to eat and inspect our cleaning job. She did tell us a story of when she was a kid they used to go to town by horse and buggy to get flour and sugar in 100 pound bags and dried prunes in crates. It was interesting. Her blood count is down so it could be time for another transfusion. She has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. I will probably go back and visit again next weekend. Thank goodness it is a 3 day weekend.
Today, Missy and I are going to see Grandma at lunch. I have some magazines for Miss to take to the hospital for the patients. After that I will probably go to WalMart or Target to stock up on cleaning supplies. Hope everyone has a good week and is looking forward to the 3 day weekend. Love Ktmae

A raining night in Chicago.
Hi family,
If you have seen the news recently, Chicago has been in there for the rainy weather we've had.
Last Thursday, was a real bad storm in the area. Fortunatly, we didn't flood, but Missy & Dave were not that lucky. They got a little more than 3 inches of water in their basement. On Friday, Kaye & I were both over there helping with the clean up. I don't want to steal all her thunder so she can fill you in on more of the details. This is Sunday morning and on the news they said there is still almost 100,000 people who still don't have power. It was a nasty storm.
I had a nice visit with Uncle Don, Aunt Terry and Dana yesterday at grandma. Uncle Rick showed up too which addded to the visit.
Aunt Kaye and Missy are going to see grandma today.
Well good bye for now everyone.
Love,
Uncle Jim.

Start Of Another Year
Hi Everyone,
Well I have survived the first two days of class for the semester, which is, I guess, a good start to my senior year. So far my classes do not seem to be too terrible, I found out that my practicum placement will be as far from Charleston as the Champaign area -- which I am not too excited about all the driving. Other than that, most of my classes seem to be pretty good and interesting.
The "random" suitemates has worked out very well thus far in the semester. One of the three has a serious girlfriend and more or less lives with her. And the other two are just goofy and fun to be around, the three of us have all worked at some kind of summer camp, and Jake and I are both picking up a Driver Ed. minor so it turns out that we have one class together.
Work at the Carman Hall front desk is going well. Getting more hours that I care too, but the paychecks will be nice! I am still working out on the horse farm, which is doing very well. I was out there for two hours mowing and dragging the riding arenas on Monday. Jim and Kay, the owners of the farm, put up a very large indoor arena and once that is completed I will start riding, as Jim and Kay both want me to show some of their horses starting as early as September at some schooling shows in Indiana.
Other than that, I just finished a reading assignment and I am off to bed!
Love,
Scott

Holy Humidity
The humidity here in Chitown is Ridiculous! Dave and I bought bikes a few weeks back and have only been able to ride them together once because it's either too hot, raining, or too humid, and tonight is no exception. The AC is running once again. Knock on wood...no flooding yet.
I got to meet Deena, Grandma's caregiver on Saturday. She is pretty nice. Grandma likes her, but told me, "She talks a little too much, but I just let her ramble on." :) Hands down, she's much better than Celeste.
We officially started Pet Therapy on my unit at the hospital. Three times a week, dogs of all shapes and sizes along with their owners, visit the patients. The dogs had extensive training and had to pass the "test" to qualify. It's all volunteer too. They love it and we love it. The dogs each have their own ID badge attached to their collar. It's too cute.
Hopefully all the students in the family are beginning the school year with excitement and motivation. School's tough, I know. Best of luck to you all. Aunt Shawn, hats off to you! Where is the university? Are your classes on line?
Uncle Rick and Aunt Ellen, it was nice seeing you. Wish I could have visited longer.
Have a great week!
Love,
Missy

Mom's moniter
Hi Everybody,
Kaye & I just got back from installing a baby moniter in mom's apt. This was a suggestion by Julie, mom's nurse. This way at night if mom needs assistance, she doesn't have to shout too loud for Jeena to hear her. The sending unit is on the round table in the bedroom and the receiving unit is the cabinet between the love seat and the couch. The moniter has a range of 400 feet, more than enough for the apt.
Just giving everyone the lastest.
Love to all,
Brother / Uncle Jim.

Hello
Hi Everybody,
We are doing fine. We had a good time on our vacation. We went to north Minn. We stayed in a cabin and went fishing everyday. The fishing was not that great, but we got to take some home with us. There were a lot of bald eagles up there too. It was great to look at them out in the wild. On our way home we had to stop at Cabela's an outdoor store. Over all we had a good time. Now we are home and I am back to work.
Jeremiah in working part time at a farm store and he starts at ISU school full time on Tuesday. He will graduate dec 2008.
My job is going great. I like my job so far. For the most part it is great to see the kids go home after a long stay.
Well, I hope that everybody is doing fine and Hope to talk with you all some.
Love Angela and Jeremiah

My First Entry
Hello everybody, Kaye just got me up and running (on the blog that is) so I'm here. Thank you Missy for getting us all together. I'm going to stick this in my favorites for quick access.
It's Saturday morning 8/18 - kind of overcast. Rain is expected. I'll be calling Grandma to get her grocery list in a little while. Brother Rick and Ellen are going to come over and visit with Grandma today, so it will be nice to see them too.
Love to you all,
Brother / Uncle Jim.

school is here
hey everyone - Missy figured out that I was deleting the Misbehaving email thinking it was junk, sorry about that. So the most exciting news here of course is school started on Monday. Tommy didn't get back from his 7 and 1/2 weeks of debate camp until Sunday night and then had to get up Monday morning and start school. Not much of a vacation, but he loves it. Sami is fencing 4-5 nights a week and will join the speech team - which is the fun half of the debate team. They are happily busy. Monday I'm going to start my school, Brenau University, to get my masters in teaching. It should take about 18 months, now the kids can nag me to get my homework done. And Fred is in Kansas now and will be going to (feel sorry for him) Hawaii the beginning of Sept and England the end of Sept. Tough life.
Thanks Missy for organizing this - I hope everyone submits on a regular basis, love to hear from ya 'll.
Love
Shawn

Move-In For School
Hi Everyone!
Well with the summer behind me, I just returned to EIU for my senior year on Tuesday. I lucked out and had a some what cooler day to move in, luckily the A/C was running very nicely in the Lincoln/Stevenson/Douglas complex! I got all my stuff moved into my room, and let me tell you my room is much smaller than my room in Carman Hall, but the living room and bathroom for the suite definitely makes up for the smaller room.
Well the rest of campus returned today, and classes begin on Monday! I am off to do some horseback riding later this weekend too -- hopefully I am not too rusty!
Hope everyone is doing well.
Love,
Scott

Welcome!!!
Hello all! Welcome to our family blog. This is a terrific way for us to keep in touch 24/7. My sister-in-law, Julie, started a family blog for Dave's side a few months ago, and we've had lots of fun with it.
Thanks to Grandma for thinking of the clever name "b connected", as we're uncomfortable posting our last name for all to view. Anyone can read these blogs, but only the people I invite can post entries.
We've had a busy weekend. We visited with Dave's family yesterday. His sister and brother-in-law are in town. Julie is 5 1/2 months pregnant, expecting a boy in Nov. We're so excited! Dave and I went to a rock concert last night. We saw 311. It was super fun. Today, I had a nice lunch visit with Grandma, Mom and Dad. Dave and I are planning on going to see The Bourne Supremacy with Matt Damon a little later.
Happy Birthday Angela!!! Hope you're enjoying your vacation. You'll have to tell us all about it.
I'm not sure when Scott, Tommy, Sami, or Dana begin school, but if it's this week, best of luck with the new year. :) Let us know how your first week goes.
Happy posting...
Love,
Missy
